Outside Reading #3

Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik, I have successfully eradicated the pages of this book, the book was amazing, unlike anything I've ever read. The thing about Haunted is that it's not a novel you can just klike things about or not about it. You Either like it or not, the reason for this is the unique way it is written, with an overall story with 16 short stories interjected right in at various moments. Haunted has been one of the best, most interesting, and horifying novels I have ever read. I could not recommend this novel more, books like this don't come around often so I recommend you get this book before you remember you learned about it in school.

Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik, I have finished reading the book. Something that surprises me in the book is the lengths that the captives go to make their story more incredible. My prediction for the end of the book is that there will be tremendous loss and sacrifice.

Outside reading #1

Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik, I have finished reading the book already. There is no main character in the story, it is a bunch of characters who share a dwelling together, and describe their lives most influential moment. One character to describe is the leader of of the retreat, Mr. Whittier, who seems to be in his 80's is actually only 13 years old. He has amassed a fortune by tricking wealthy women to have sex with him, then blackmailing them telling them his true age of 13. There are nineteen people, nineteen stories to tell, and nineteen people to learn about.

My research has led to great reinforcement of my stance because it completely backs my stance with new statistics and information that i didn't know. Statistics such as percentages of races corresponding to gangs all over, of homicides that are gang related, and number of substantial drug deals have increased my knowledge of this gang epidemic but still keeps my topic strong.

Thesis Statement

Gangs are a hazard to society because they can promote drugs, they condone violence, and are destroying the quality of life in their neighborhood.

Was there justice?

Yes I believe there was justice in the film Civil Action, because the company was forced to pay and reconcile the families in the end. At the beginning of the film the company was very confident and was positive that they were goig to win or at the most offer a settlement. John Travolta's character proved them wrong by actually caring about the families and giving them everything that he had, even his forclosure on his house, which led to justice being served for the families and community.
